Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Tuesday met separately with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking, US Special Representative for Iran Robert Malley, United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West, during a visit His Excellency is making to the US capital Washington DC.
The meeting dealt with developments in Afghanistan on the political and security fronts, and the ways to provide the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people, support girls' right to education, in addition to a number of issues of joint interest.
The meetings also dealt with reviewing bilateral relations, GCC-American ties, the latest developments in Palestine and the importance of unity among Palestinian factions, and joint cooperation on regional and international issues.
The meetings also dealt with the latest developments in Yemen, particularly humanitarian conditions. It also discussed the latest developments of the nuclear deal, and the importance of holding a regional dialogue with Iran that brings different point of view all parties closer.
Earlier, Qatar Deputy Prime Minister met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during his current visit to Washington, DC.
During the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the US State Department, they reviewed bilateral cooperation, especially the annual Strategic Dialogue in its fifth session, developments in Afghanistan, developments in the nuclear agreement talks with Iran, and the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
